HARDWARE · RETROFIT LINE

Modern access control on your existing infrastructure — no demolition required.

Vivo’s retrofit hardware line was engineered specifically for buildings that already exist — reusing your wiring, your door hardware, and your gate controllers while delivering a platform that feels like new construction.

PRODUCT

The hardware that makes the rip-and-replace argument disappear.

Every building manager who has been told they need to retrofit their access system has heard the same pitch: new panels, new wiring, new controllers, new everything. Six figures. Eight weeks. Three vendors. And residents who can’t get through their own front gate for two days in the middle of it all.

Vivo’s retrofit hardware line exists to make that conversation unnecessary. Every component in the retrofit lineup is designed to connect to what you already have — existing wiring runs, existing door strikes, existing gate controllers, existing camera infrastructure. You get a modern platform. The building barely notices the change.

LINEUP

Every component your retrofit needs — and nothing you don’t.

QR MODULE

Retrofit QR Reader Module

Compact QR and NFC reader designed to replace existing intercom buttons and keypad readers. Fits standard 1-gang and 2-gang electrical box cutouts. Connects to existing wiring. Zero new conduit in most installs.

Replaces button intercom panels, keypad entry systems, standalone fob readers.
INTERCOM

Retrofit Intercom Adapter

Connects Vivo’s video intercom to existing two-wire and four-wire intercom wiring — without replacing in-wall cable runs. Existing wiring carries the signal. Vivo delivers the platform.

Replaces analog audio intercom systems and legacy video intercom controllers.
DOOR STRIKE

Door Strike Interface Module

Universal dry contact relay module that connects Vivo to any existing electric door strike or magnetic lock — 12V or 24V, fail-safe or fail-secure. No strike replacement. No lock replacement.

Works with Von Duprin, HES, Securitron, Adams Rite + all major brands.
GATE

Gate Controller Interface

Universal relay board that connects Vivo to any existing barrier gate or vehicle gate controller. Works with LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, CAME, Nice, Doorking, Linear, and Elite — and virtually any controller with a dry contact input.

Replaces nothing — connects to what you already have.
ELEVATOR

Elevator Relay Interface

Retrofit module that connects Vivo’s floor-level access control to existing elevator relay boards — without cab replacement or elevator hardware modification.

Compatible with Otis, Schindler, KONE, ThyssenKrupp + most mid-market systems.
POWER

PoE Injector & Power Kit

Powers Vivo hardware over existing ethernet infrastructure where PoE switches are not available. Includes surge protection for outdoor installations in lightning-prone environments.

For buildings with non-PoE network infrastructure.
WHAT CHANGES

The components that go — and the ones that stay.

REPLACED

What gets replaced

These are the components at the end of their useful life — the ones causing resident complaints, management headaches, and the conversations that led you here.

  • Button intercom panels
  • Keypad entry units
  • Fob and keycard readers
  • Analog video intercom controllers
  • Proprietary credential management systems
  • Manual visitor logbooks
  • On-premises access control servers
REUSED

What stays exactly as it is

These are the components your building already paid for — the ones that work, that are installed correctly, and that would cost a significant budget to replace without improving the outcome.

  • +All in-wall wiring runs
  • +Electric door strikes and magnetic locks
  • +Gate motors and barrier arm controllers
  • +Elevator motors and cab hardware
  • +IP camera infrastructure
  • +Network switches and ethernet runs
  • +Door frames and mounting hardware

PROCESS

From assessment to go-live — typically under one week.

DAY 1

Free On-Site Assessment

Certified integrator documents existing wiring, hardware, and access points. Compatibility confirmed in writing before any work begins.

DAY 2

Written Proposal

Itemized proposal delivered — what retrofit hardware is needed, what existing components are reused, installation timeline, and total cost. No surprises. No scope creep.

DAY 3–4

Hardware Installation

Retrofit modules installed at each access point. Existing hardware connected. Residents maintain access throughout. Zero downtime.

DAY 5

Platform Configuration

Access rules, credential types, and visitor workflows configured from the Vivo dashboard. Tested at every entry point before resident onboarding begins.

DAY 6–7

Resident Onboarding & Go-Live

Digital invites sent to all residents. Credentials active in under 5 minutes per user. Legacy system decommissioned once Vivo is fully verified.

COST COMPARISON

What retrofit actually costs — versus what full replacement would have cost.

OPTION A

Full rip-and-replace

  • · New wiring throughout building
  • · New door strikes at every entry
  • · New gate controllers
  • · New elevator hardware
  • · Construction crew — 3–6 weeks
  • · Resident disruption
$$$$
OPTION B

Vivo retrofit

  • · Existing wiring reused
  • · Existing strikes stay
  • · Existing controllers stay
  • · Existing elevator hardware stays
  • · Certified integrator — 3–7 days
  • · Zero resident disruption
$ — $$
THE DELTA

The difference

  • · Most retrofit deployments cost 60–80% less than full replacement — while delivering the same platform capabilities, the same audit trail, and the same resident experience.
60–80% less

Exact cost depends on property size, number of access points, and existing infrastructure condition. A certified integrator provides a written assessment before any commitment.

PROOF

Buildings that modernized on their existing infrastructure.

95% of Vivo deployments reuse existing wiring
60–80% typical cost reduction vs full replacement
7 days average retrofit deployment timeline

"Every vendor we spoke to told us we needed new wiring throughout the entire building. Vivo’s team came in, looked at what we had, and told us we didn’t. They were right. We were live in five days."

Roberto Martínez
Roberto Martínez Building Manager · Condominium Association, Ponce PR

"We had a quote for a full panel and wiring tear-out at $148k. Vivo retrofit was under $40k and turned the lobby and gates over in a week."

Carla Beltrán
Carla Beltrán HOA President · Las Brisas Towers, San Juan PR

"Our maintenance team thought it was magic when the old strikes and gate motors just kept working under a modern platform. No demo. No rebuilds."

David Kim
David Kim Property Manager · Harbor Lofts, Tampa FL

"Seven days from kickoff to residents on the app. Zero conduit pulled. Zero hardware replaced that didn’t need to be."
